My e-mail address is at the bottom of this document. 2. Common Controls These controls are the same for all characters: CONTROL PAD: Camera movement. By pressing this, you can move the camera around to see your surroundings. It can be used nearly anytime. L or R TRIGGERS: Camera movement. This will move your camera in a 360- degree radius. Press R to move Right, and L to move Left. B or X BUTTONS: Pick up items, Grab items, and Throw items (with Analog Stick). 3. Menu Navigation/Starting the Game This will run you through all the menu options and how to start a game: FROM THE TITLE SCREEN: Press START on the title screen to go to the memory card select screen. MEMORY CARD SELECT SCREEN: On this screen, you can choose which memory card you want to use to save and load data off of. Use the Directional pad to choose the card, and use A to select that card, or press B or X to CANCEL. FILE SCREEN: Here, you can choose the File Number you want to save your game data on. You can have up to three save spots (labeled file 1, file 2, or file 3. The bottom option is to go back to the Memory Card Select Screen. If you are starting a new game, all slots will be blank, but if you are continuing, you will see some information on it: It will show you what characters you have (labeled by the first letter of the character's name, i.e., S for Sonic, T for Tails, K for Knuckles, A for Amy, B for Big, and E for E-102.) What stage you last saved on, the last stage you fought a boss on, how much time (in hours and seconds) you've been playing the game, and how many emblems you have. When you select a file, it will take you to the Menu Screen. MENU SCREEN: There are four options. If you're just starting, you'll only have two options available. Other ones open up as you go through the game: ADVENTURE: Play the standard Sonic Adventure. TRIAL: Either go through previous stages you've cleared, OR, play the mini games. OPTION: The options screen. INTERNET: Open Internet options. OPTION SCREEN: On the opening screen with the four boxes (from left to right, top row, then bottom row), the options are: SOUND TEST, MESSAGE SPEED, SOUND SETTINGS, and FILE OPTIONS. Third option is CANCEL. FILE OPTION: Go here to erase data, or copy data. ADVENTURE SCREEN: From here, you can choose your character and start the game. (If you are just STARTING the game, Sonic will be the ONLY playable character. As you go through the game as Sonic, you will be able to find other characters that you will be able to play as.) You will know if the character is playable if their name appears SOLID and not TRANSLUCENT. If you are CONTINUING the game, you can choose other characters (if you have them), OR stick with the same character. In a red sphere near the character's name, is a percentage of the game finished with that specific character. You will also get a HISTORY screen detailing the events of what has happened prior to where you are in the game. ----- 4. Gameplay Here are the basics of Sonic Adventure Gameplay: 4a. Order of Events There is a specific order of events. Here is how the game works: 1. Adventure Field TO Event and Course of Action 2. Action Stage 3. Back to Adventure Field The Adventure Field for most of Sonic Adventure is the CITY; known as Station Square OR it can be Mystic Ruin. From here, an event occurs and you must decide on a course of action. Usually that involves going to an Action Stage. Once you've completed an Action Stage, you return to the Adventure Field. 4b. Mission Objectives For Sonic the Hedgehog: There are THREE mission objectives in every Action Stage. There is a Mission C, a Mission B, and a Mission A. Mission C is ALWAYS the main mission. Mission B is to reach the capsule at the end of the stage with over fifty rings. Mission A is to get to the capsule at the end of the stage before a certain time (i.e., you must clear the stage under two minutes). For Miles "Tails" Prower: You must race against Sonic on each stage and beat him to the finish line. For Knuckles the Echidna: You must find the shards from the Master Emerald. You go through each stage, and retrieve shards from the broken Emerald. For Amy Rose: You must constantly run away from the Robot that is trying to attack you. You must avoid the Robot, and reach the balloon at the end of each stage. For Big the Cat: Use your fishing pole to fish out your pet frog. For E-102 Gamma: Unknown. I'll let you know in the next update. 4c. Auto Save Anytime you beat a boss, or beat an action stage and then go into a new area, or meet up with a character, (that sets off an event), the game will auto-save. 4d. Action Stages These are the major stages where you collect rings, avoid enemies, etc. With each character the order of stages are different. 4e. Boss Stages Every so often (especially with Sonic), you must fight a Boss. Once you beat a Boss (usually either Dr. Eggman OR the Chaos creature), the game will auto save. The Boss has an energy bar on the upper right- hand side of the screen. 4f. Mini-Stages/Mini-Games In each characters adventure, there are Mini-Games that once you've played them in the Action Stages, they become playable in the Trial option. 4f. Emblems These are just emblems showing how cool you are (kind of like the stars from Mario 64). They add to the percentage of the game finished. 4g. Power Up Items All characters can get power up items that enhance or add a new ability. Most characters have two power up items. Where the item is and what it does is described in each character's walkthrough. ----- 5. Character Controls and Walkthroughs: 5a. Sonic the Hedgehog CONTROLS: Hold down X or Y: Spin dash. With power up, you can perform the "Lightspeed" action. A or B: Jump. By pressing jump again during a jump, you can perform a jump attack. You can use this multiple times (like on flying enemies, so you can cross a gap on an Action stage). WALKTHROUGH FOR SONIC THE HEDGEHOG: Sonic's storyline is naturally the longest. At the introduction, everything is peaceful at Station Square. Enter Sonic. He sees all the police commotion, and checks it out. Sonic meets up with the liquid creature Chaos, and decides to fight it himself. BOSS: CHAOS 0. Grab the rings and when in attack range, JUMP, and then JUMP again (in the middle of your previous jump) to use your jump attack. Do this three times to kill him. Don't get too close to Chaos, though. Chaos escapes down a sewer. The next morning Sonic rests by the pool, and sees Tails lose control of his plane, the "Tornado". Go to the beach where you saw Tails' crash. STAGE 1: EMERALD COAST. This level isn't too tricky, so use this stage to familiarize yourself with the controls. There are only two problem areas; one is the panel jump. On the ground you will see a panel (orange in color), labeled with the number one. When you jump off this panel, you will jump to panel number two. If you press the jump button at the time Sonic hits each panel, you will hit each panel in numerical order, up to five. The other problem area is more of a minor glitch. Sometimes if you are running, the game runs so fast (especially on the ground panels that make you go faster), you may go through, say a fence or something, causing you to die. You can prevent this oddity by using a spin dash prior to going into a dash panel. You will roll up into a ball, and the game won't glitch. You finish the stage when you reach Tails. When you rescue Tails, you will go into a scene, and when Tails leaves, he will become PLAYABLE. Go to the train station to Mystic Ruin. After arriving in Mystic ruin, find the staircase that goes up to a flat area. You will meet up with Dr. Eggman. BOSS: EGG HORNET. You must hit this three times. He will shoot missiles, and then do a diving attack that causes the Egg Hornet to get stuck in the ground. Hit it now. The boss will repeat the pattern of missiles, then the diving attack. Repeat until dead. Dr. Eggman will take your Chaos Emerald and add it to Chaos. Now go to the building that looks like a planetarium. It's actually Tails' Hanger for his plane. There is a green stone here. It is the Stone of Wind. Grab the stone and take it to a place where there is wind blowing from the ground. There is a place where you can place the stone (like a little shrine). Put the stone down, and the floor with the wooden planks will open up. STAGE 2: WINDY VALLEY. Get the Chaos Emerald at the end of the stage. When done here, go back to Station Square. Eggman will steal the emerald again. Now you must get two power-ups to reach the next stage: POWER-UP: LIGHTSPEED. In the Hotel (the building with the swimming pool), there are exits to the outside, one to the pool, one that takes you to a large area of the city, and one that takes you to a small area of the city where the Casino is. You want to go to the area with the casino. You will see a hole in the ground. Go here. From here you can get the Lightspeed power up. When you press on a special panel, you will create a series of rings in a path. Hold down X or Y to charge up your energy. You'll see Sonic charge up, and say "Ready? GO!" On the GO command let go of X or Y and Sonic will use the path of rings as a way to escape (Lightspeed follows special paths of rings). Now for the next power-up. POWER-UP: LIGHTSPEED BRACELET. In the hotel, you will see a staircase with two switches. Hit the first one to make the door open, and then the next one to make a path of rings. Use Lightspeed to get into the door on the far end (with the path of rings). For this difficult task, you will get the Lightspeed Bracelet. It reduces the amount of time it takes to go into Lightspeed. Now go into the casino by using Lightspeed, by creating a path to the bumper that is on the Casino marquis. STAGE 3: CASINOPOLIS. You must get about 400 to 500 rings in the ring counting room to reach the capsule. You do this by collecting rings in the two pinball games in this area. There is the Nights Table, and the Sonic Table. The easier of the two is the Nights table, because if you finish your pinball game, you start off near the ring counting area. If you finish on the Sonic Table, you will (sometimes) end up in a special area underneath the Casino. When done here, on one of the side alleys in the city, you will see a blue stone, which is the Stone of Ice. Go to Mystic Ruin, and go to the new area that has opened up (it's easy to spot, it near the train stop). Go in the new cave, and place the Blue stone on the small pedestal to enter stage four. STAGE 4: ICE CAP. The problem area here is jumping from icicle to icicle. Point Sonic's back to the icicle you want to go to, and he'll jump to it automatically. Finish this level, and have fun with the Snowboarding at the end of the level! Once you are through with this level, you will have TWO bosses to fight! BOSS: KNUCKLES. To beat him, just use your rolling attack (hold down Y or X to do a spin dash, and spin into him while he is on the ground). Do this three times, then another cinema will pass, and you will fight an updated version of Chaos. BOSS: CHAOS 4. You must attack Chaos 4 by waiting until he is stationary in the oily water. He (it?) will do several attacks, but if you jump from one lily pond to the next, to avoid his attacks (grab the rings!), and use your attacks to his head, he will be defeated in very little time. Now you will see Eggman's ship, the Egg Carrier. Go to Tail's Hangar (the building at the top of the staircase), a cinema will play, and you will stand on top of Tail's plane, the "Tornado". SKY CHASE: ACT ONE. The controls are very simple, use any button to fire, and hold down any button to lock on the enemies with homing shots, release the button to fire the shots. When done here, you will get a screen showing the number of enemies you destroyed, and your accuracy percentage. You will get an emblem if it is over 50%. You will crash onto the beach near the hotel (it's the same path you take to go to Emerald Coast). From here, go to the Casino area in Station Square. Here you will meet up with Amy. After a brief cinema, you must find her again at Twinkle Park (it is near the hotel, and it has a glass walkway above it. It will be "activated" by the twinkling neon circles around it. STAGE 5: TWINKLE PARK. The easiest way to get a small go-cart is to kill all the enemies that ride in the go-carts first, then, the gate will open. Once open, drive through the level then reach the second half of Twinkle Park, which is an amusement park. When you're done, you can either go on to play Twinkle Circuit (a mini-game), or leave Twinkle Park to go to the next level. Near Twinkle Park, you will find, near a lamppost, a small ID card (it's spinning around). Pick it up and take it to the area that looks like a closed garage door. The door will confirm the ID card, and take one of the elevators to the next level (it doesn't matter which one, they both go to the same place). STAGE 6: SPEED HIGHWAY. TALK ABOUT FREAKING FAST! This level isn't terribly difficult, but it isn't called Speed Highway for nothing. When you reach the city (after running down the side of a building), you will find a large fountain near the end of the level. Jump into the fountain, and go into the small area for the pod. Now, you will find that in the glass walkway (the one the train goes on for passage to Mystic Ruin) the robot has captured Amy, and taken her to the Egg Carrier. Go into the cave that the entrance to level 4 is in, and go beyond it. Here you will find a hidden area with a small temple with a large green Chaos Emerald is. Here you will find your next power-up, the Lightspeed upgrade, now, Lightspeed goes further then ever before! Use your spin dash on the light near the iron grate of a cave nearby to open it, and enter the cave for the next level. STAGE 7: RED MOUNTAIN. From here, you must catch up with the Egg Carrier. This level is a little tricky in jumps, but overall not too difficult. You will sometimes need to activate a rocket by hitting a nearby switch. Go through this level, and Tails will meet up with you again in his rebuilt Tornado. SKY CHASE: ACT 2. Same as before, except at the end of the level, you will need to destroy the main cannon at the end of the level. You must use standard shots. Once the main cannon is destroyed, Tails will crash land on top of the Egg Carrier. From here the game will save on the Egg Carrier. The Egg Carrier will transform, and you will see a door open up to the next level. STAGE 8: SKY DECK. Get to the end of this level. There are two problem areas. One is that you will reach a VERY LARGE cannon on the Sky Deck. Run to any of the rockets, and when the mouth of the gun is pointed at you, fire at it. It only takes one shot, and then you'll go to the next area, where the ship will turn on its side. Use the ladders to negotiate the proper jumps to survive this level. STAGE 9: LOST WORLD. STAGE 10: FINAL EGG. I will finish this walkthrough very soon. 5b. Miles "Tales" Prower Coming Soon. 5c. Knuckles the Echidna Coming Soon. 5d. Amy Rose Coming Soon. 5e. Big the Cat Coming Soon. 5f. E-102 Gamma Coming Soon. ----- 6. A-life and Ciao System Coming Soon. I don't fully understand it yet. ----- 7. Other Notes Coming Soon. ----- Well, that's it.
