Power Stone is one of Capcom's few entries into the
3d fighting genre, but easily surpases Tekken, Toshinden, and other
3d fighters. From the very first time I heard about a game that
let you use the environment around you to fight(pick up chairs,
roll over tables, swing around beams, and more!) I was happy. When
I learned it was from Capcom, I nearly feinted from joy. Did it
live up to my expectations? Actually, it surpassed them. Knocking
someone into a wall then watching a shelf dump pots on their head
is one of the funniest things I've ever seen!
The controls of the game are fluid, and very easy
to learn. And the lack of true "special moves" in the classic sense
makes the game easy to play for the gamer who can't do motions on
the controller as well. The only negative comment on gameplay I
can make is that there is no way to pick up the huge tables and
throw them. Oh wait, nevermind, you can!
This game is most definitly worth buying for fighting
game fans. Replay value is even greatly increased with the "Power
Stone Collection" mode, in which you play through the game, and
some VMS mini-games, to earn new characters, features, and even
a special point-of-view mode like Bushido Blade.
