Finally, a system that offers true arcade perfection. Marvel vs.
Capcom is the all-star fighter from Capcom, featuring characters
from a number of previous Capcom games, as well as heroes and villians
from the Marvel comic universe. So in other words, if you ever wondered
how Ryu would fare against Spider-Man, or whether Zangief or the
Hulk was the stronger of the two, then this game is a dream come
true. Visualy, the game is stunning. Brillant colors and a frame
rate to rival actual animated movies sums up the way the game looks.
But how is gameplay you ask? In a word, perfect. Fluid controls
are one of Capcom's trademark for it's fighters, and this game is
fluid control personified, with better control than the highly praised
Street Fighter Alpha 3. And as is the par with Street Fighter games,
it's sheer fun proves that 2d is far from dead, despite what some
people claim.
And on top of all that, one of the major flaws of most Capcom(and
for that matter most companies except Namco's) fighting games share,
replayability and secrets, is more than taken care of in Marvel
Vs. Capcom. Sure, you can just enter a brief code to play as one
of the Secret characters, but why when you can earn them the right
way, and get a little bonus? And that bonus is non other than the
ability to play as the god-like Onslaught! The difficulty and skill
it takes to earn the secret characters can get pretty annoying,
but it definitly keeps the player coming back to gain the coveted
Onslaught Mode.
Above all else however, shines the funnest gameplay experience ever.
Cross Fever Mode... The ultimate 4 player tag-team action... This
is most definitly a title to get some extra controllers and 3 friends
over for.
Marvel Vs. Capcom is the very best 2d has to offer. About the only
thing the game lacks is a World Tour mode like Street Fighter Alpha
3 has. -Faust
